Lors d’un reportage sur un fait de société en France, j’ai été saisie d’incompréhension sur l’injustice sociale que subissait une famille. Les souffrances causées par la guerre me paraissaient alors plus sensés et légitimes. C’est de là qu’est née mon envie d’être reporter de guerre. Comment faites-vous pour ne pas être traumatisée par ce que vous voyez ? Quand je me déplace sur une zone de conflit, j’ai toujours avec moi mon carnet de notes. Cet outil me permet de me mettre dans une posture journalistique et ainsi prendre de la distance avec ce qui m’entoure. La fois au Rwanda où je l’ai oublié, je me suis sentie complètement démunie face à des militaires français qui balançaient des bennes entières de cadavres dans une fosse commune... Comment votre métier a-t-il évolué depuis que vous avez commencé ? Je trouve que l’évolution du métier est un peu problématique. L’apparition d’Internet, des réseaux sociaux et des chaînes en continu ont changé la donne. Maintenant, tout le monde peut s’improviser journaliste, ce qui enlève de la crédibilité au métier. Le manque de moyens devient aussi un problème. Rester plus de trois semaines sur une zone de conflit est presque devenu impossible aujourd’hui.
